Colour code assessment approach by APEC
Data in the JODI-Oil World Database from following countries/economies are reported through APEC who is responsible for assigning colour codes;
Brunei Darussalam, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Vietnam.
All countries/economies except Papua New Guinea - when the annual data becomes available, the sum of monthly data are compared with the annual data. Comparison are done for all products and flows.
When annual data are not yet available, crude oil production and total oil demand are compared with data from other sources:
China, Malaysia, Russia - monthly crude oil production are compared with data from other sources.
China - monthly demand data are compared with data from other sources
APEC can not obtain data for specific oil products from other sources.
When all flows are reported:
Russia - demand for Gasoline, Diesel and Fuel Oil are rated based on the balance between supply and demand. Ratings are based on the size of the statistical discrepancy.
Chinese Taipei - demand for LPG, Gasoline, Kerosene, Diesel, Fuel Oil and Total Oil are rated based on the balance between supply and demand. Ratings are based on the size of the statistical discrepancy.
Stock change - we compare calculated stock change (stock closing of previous month - stock closing of following month) with reported stock change for countries reporting stock change and stock closing data. APEC do not rate stock closing data.
